Children of Rwenzori is a Ugandan-Norwegian, idealistic, apolitical, not-for-profit organization, localized in Ibanda, a small village at the foot of the mighty Rwenzori Mountains in the Kasese District. Our goal is to build a health center that will give the inhabitants of the area a safe place to get help when they need it. Since the most vulnerable are mothers and children, we will initially focus on reproductive health.
Children of Rwenzori is working to create a better society in which the residents´ rights to a good and meaningful life is fulfilled.
Building a Health Center in Ibanda
Things take time. We started building in September 2016 but have had some challenges along the way. We have finished phase I and hope to finish phase II in 2019.
The construction of the first three buildings was completed in February 2018. The most important house contains the delivery section with four delivery rooms, two small operating theaters, a laboratory and other necessary facilities. In the other houses we find the maternity ward and the staff quarters.
The other half of the project will consist of an administration building with offices, an outpatient clinic and an educational pavilion. There will also be a ward for patients with isolate, a laundry and a gatehouse.
